Flying Spot Film Transfer has changed its name to Lightpress. The change comes as the company announces the acquisition of several pieces of technology and the addition of a new staff member in a move to expand offerings to include a full range of data based color grading, editing/finishing services, and data archival solutions.
Lightpress purchased the Quantel IQ Pablo 4k with the Neo color console in order to meet the increasing demand for the DI workflows of commercial, feature, and high end corporate productions with the most powerful non-linear color grading / finishing system in the region, and the only system capable of playing 4k data (including .r3d files). The system includes powerful effects/compositing tools, the ability to share media on the Quantel drive with the the da Vinci, and FCP/AE suites, and a resolution independent platform which allows any format from SD to 4k to be combined on the edit timeline and output at any resolution without the need to render.
As impressive as the Quantel IQ Pablo 4k is as an editing/compositing/finishing system - the real draw for the colorists at Lightpress is the power wielded at the controls of the Quantel's recently introduced Neo color console. The possibilities are unlimited; Unlimited primaries, unlimited secondaries, unlimited layers, and unlimited shapes combine with comprehensive tracking to make grading moving images fast and accurate. The Quantel IQ Pablo 4k is quite simply the ultimate color correction solution for HD, 2K, 4K and stereoscopic 3D.
